CHICAGO -- I don''t know how many of you took my advice to attend this year''s ASHRAE Show, but it sure was a whopper when it comes to attendance.Unfortunately, while the number of attendees continues to grow, the number of companies displaying their wares has continued to dwindle. They come rated to 1,500 A, 10 to 75 V, at 40- to 100-percent-duty cycle. Most GTAW power supplies come equipped with high-frequency circuitry for arc initiation and stabilization, gas valves, and cooling-water valves for high-current welding. High-frequency arc start is useful when the maximum open-circuit voltage allowed by NEMA standards, 80 to 100 V, will not establish and maintain a stable arc.

To meet the needs of increased brake system demands and to achieve proper brake balance and be able to maintain it, truckers are asking for the following components and accessories:1. Engine retarders. A retarder is an auxiliary braking device for slowing down vehicles. Types include engine, exhaust, transmission and driveline retarders. In the US, engine retarders are the most common. Well over half of Class 8 trucks are sold with engine retarders. In Europe, driveline retarders are the most common. Engine retarders work by temporarily altering the engine valve timing, releasing to the atmosphere the energy accumulated during the compression stroke. This is done by operating the exhaust valves near top dead center of the compression stroke. Retarding power can be greater than 100% of engine horsepower at rated RPM.
