Open center systems also suffer from this horsepower drain due to full flow at system pressure drops. Pressure drops as high as the system relief setting can be seen in some RTFL applications. This is not unusual in that hose lengths to and from the functions can be very long and counterbalance valves are often selected because of cost rather than flow capacity.
