CPU systems are extremely stable and can be very energy efficient depending on duty cycle especially when combined with parallel LS circuits. Here, the duty cycle of a telehandler makes this very attractive. They feature a simple low-cost open center main valve converted to closed center with tailored spools and offer very good metering to minimize interference when multifunctioning.In the accompanying example, two separate valves art" used to control the functions. A 40 gpm valve is used for the boom up/down and retract/extend. A smaller 20 gpm valve is selected for tilt, frame level, left/right outriggers and auxiliary. An integrated circuit is affixed to the lower flow valve that provides load sense for the brakes, priority steering and pilot pressure. When the lift or telescopic function is activated the orifice is closed off and the pump goes to compensator pressure. It is also true for the tilt, frame level, outriggers and auxiliary functions. This is accomplished by sending the load sense signal through open center core of the 40 gpm valve on to the 20 gpm valve via power beyond. Since the pump in this example supplies only the flow requested any combination of valves is possible. Contamination often stems from poor storage and is not a reflection on the quality of the fuel itself.Nearly all the tanks we studied are 20 years or more in age; half are over 30 years old. All the tanks have filters, but a third of them were dirty or clogged and needed replacement.Similar results in NebraskaWhile not part of our study, a tank cleaning program offered by Central Farmers Co-op in O''Neil, Nebraska, found similar results.
