Sizing up tank optionsThe major safety features on Martz''s new tanks are metal containment dikes. "These dikes hold 110% of the volume of the tank, so even a major leak or spill wouldn''t run onto the ground and find its way into the water supply," says Dale Pipes, manager of Boone County Oil.Pipes selected the UL-rated 12-gauge steel tanks and containment dikes for the installation. The tanks, from We-Mac Manufacturing, North Kansas City, Missouri, cost $385 each while the dikes added $495 each. The 110-volt pump, hoses and pressure valve added $431 per tank. For example, if your pressure washer needs 2-1/2 gpm, time how long it takes your garden hose to fill a 5-gallon pail. The garden hose must be 50 fi. long or less and have a 3/4-in. inside diameter, with standard 3/4-in. hose fittings for connecting to the washer''s inlet. To ensure that water circulates unobstructed through the system, check the water inlet filter or screen and clean it of debris. Also make sure the garden and pressure hoses are kink free. Before starting the washer, it''s imperative that water be flowing through the washer and out the spray wand. Follow these steps:
